On Saturday, October 28, 2023, Nagpur@2025 organized an Ecobricks Workshop for NMC School teachers at the Chitnavis Center, Mimosa Hall, Civil Lines. The objective of the workshop was to equip teachers with the necessary knowledge about waste management practices and the concept of ecobricks.
This knowledge enables them to effectively guide their students in understanding, creating, and practicing Ecobricks, both at home and within the school environment, and to motivate the students to make a positive environmental impact by reducing plastic waste through the use of Ecobricks.
The workshop was attended by 130 teachers from NMC Schools, serving as an interactive platform focusing on practical approaches to address the pervasive issue of plastic waste using Ecobricks. This sustainable solution repurposes plastic waste by compacting it into building blocks within plastic bottles.
The session was led by Jui Pandharipande, an environmentalist and solid waste management expert, who covered essential topics such as Understanding Plastics and their Impact, Ecobrick Creation, its application and benefits of Ecobricks. Interactive demonstrations of Ecobricks were provided, offering teachers the expertise to effectively introduce the concept to their students.
Nisha Thakur from Chitnavis Trust offered valuable guidance to teachers on how to plan and introduce these sustainable practices to their school students.
The presence of NMC Additional Commissioner, Aanchal Goyal, IAS, underscored the significance of this initiative, emphasizing the administration’s support and recognition of the pivotal role played by educators in fostering a culture of sustainability.
