Maharashtra Animal & Fishery Sciences University has organized a student engagement conclave cum training on “Nurturing Agripreneurship: Scope & Opportunities for Economic Development” under a NAHEP-CAAST project of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi. The conclave cum training is organized at Nagpur Veterinary College during 5th -6thNovember, 2023 and more than 150 PG and Ph.D. students and faculties from agricultural and veterinary university across the India are participating in the conclave.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by Deputy Director General of ICAR Dr. R. C. Agrawal as a chief guest, while Dr. C. D. Mayee, Former Chairman of ASRB, New Delhi, Dr. Sharad Gadakh, Vice-Chancellor of Dr. P.D.K.V., Akola and Dr. Anuradha Agrawal, National Coordinator of NAHEP, CAAST, New Delhi were the special guests. The Vice-Chancellor of MAFSU Dr. N. V. Patilchaired the programme. The Director of Instructions & Dean Dr. S. V. Upadhye, Director of Research & Registrar Dr. N. V. Kurkure, and Principal Investigator of NAHEP-CAAST project Dr. R. J. Zendewere present on the dais.
Dr. S. V. Upadhye presented the welcome note and Vice-Chancellor of MAFSU Dr. N. V. Patil summarized the achievements of the university. Dr. Sharad Gadakh narrated the scope of agripreneurship and animal husbandry in escalating the dairy sector. Dr. Anuradha Agrawal explained the role of NAHEP in inculcating the entrepreneurship in the students and shaping the development of agriculture and allied sectors through new education policy.
Dr. C. D. Mayee in his speech emphasized the importance of training while pursuing theory based conventional education to make Indian students ready to compete globally. He also highlighted the endless scope for start-ups and entrepreneurship in agriculture and veterinary and allied fields like fisheries. Chief Guest of the programme Dr. R. C. Agrawal appreciated MAFSU for taking initiative to organize such a useful conclave and training programme. He expressed that, it is a high time for students to come out of job oriented thinking and assimilate the entrepreneurship qualities by working hard on bringing ideas in to the reality.
