An investigation has been launched against a doctor in Nagpur after he allegedly left a sterilisation surgery (vasectomy) midway for not getting a cup of tea.
The incident happened at a government-run hospital in the Mauda area where eight women were called for their vasectomy.
Following the surgery of four women, Dr Bhalavi asked for a cup of tea from the hospital staff but left the operation theatre after not getting it.
Notably, when the incident happened, four women were present in deep sleep as they were administered anaesthesia before conducting the surgery.
Later, the hospital administration called another doctor after the family members of the women contacted the district medical officer and informed him about the negligence.
Speaking about the incident, Nagpur Zilla Parishad’s CEO Saumya Sharma said an investigation committee has been constituted to look into the incident. Action against the doctor will be taken based on the findings of the committee’s report.
