For the Panvel-Karjat double line railway project, the Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation (MRVC) announced on Thursday a six-hour block on the Mumbai-bound corridor of the Mumbai-Pune Expressway.
In a press release, the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) stated that the roadblock will be in place on November 9 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
According to an MRVC official quoted by news agency PTI, light and heavy vehicles will not be permitted on the Mumbai-bound carriageway at Chikhale near Kalamboli where a Rail Over Bridge (ROB) is being constructed as part of the railway project. He continued, “The roadblock was primarily put in place to launch girders.”
The drivers heading towards Mumbai can get off at Khopoli and Panvel on the former Mumbai-Pune Highway (MH-48).
