Diwali is a five-day festival that begins on Dhanteras, also called Dhanatrayodashi. According to the festival’s name, which translates from the Hindu month of Kartik as “Dhan” for “wealth” and “teras” for “thirteenth day,” it is observed on the thirteenth day of Krishna Paksha.
This day is devoted to honoring “Lord Kubera” and “Goddess Laxmi.” People purchase new utensils, gold, and silver on this auspicious day.
The mythological tale of Samudra Manthan, which describes the churning of the ocean, is one of the most well-known tales connected to Dhanteras. Hindu mythology states that Goddess Lakshmi came out of the ocean during this churning, bringing gifts for the gods. Dhanteras is therefore regarded as a good day to welcome wealth and prosperity into one’s home.
Dhanteras falls on November 10 this year. Discover the Shubh Muhurat, Puja Vidhi, and lucky times to shop on Dhanteras by reading on.
It is advised to start buying on Dhanteras at 12:35 PM and continue until 01:57 PM on November 11. It is imperative that purchases be avoided during Rahukaal, which is scheduled to take place from 10:41 am to 12:03 pm.
This year, it is suggested that lighting a mustard oil lamp at the main entrance between 5:40 and 6 PM in the south direction after the evening puja on Dhanteras will bring prosperity. During Dhanteras, worshiping Lord Dhanvantari, Goddess Lakshmi, Lord Ganesha, Kubera, and Yama is said to have great benefits.
