After passing class 12 from duly recognized boards, students who pursued physics, chemistry, biology, or biotechnology in addition to English as a subject may take the NEET-UG exam.
The National Medical Commission (NMC) stated in a notice to the public on Wednesday that this decision will be applicable to students whose applications were previously denied.
Candidates must have completed two years of regular or continuous study in English and Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or Biotechnology in Classes 11 and 12, along with practical experience. This is in accordance with previous standards.
It was necessary to finish the two years of study at regular schools; open schools or private candidates were not permitted. The Delhi High Court heard a challenge to the provisions.
In a meeting on June 14, 2023, the NMC deliberated in depth and took into account the New Education Policy, which allows for a great deal of flexibility in the subjects studied in Class 12.
