Maha Metro has taken initiative for the launch of affordable feeder service through shared auto rickshaw from 37 metro stations. Maha metro has send the proposal to RTO with the detail survey of the adjoining area to each of 37 stations with mention of distance of that are from the station and requested to RTO to decide the fare to be changed by auto rickshaw.
Maha Metro Nagpur had recently convened a meeting regarding this issue at Metro Bhavan. Regioal Transport Officer (RTO) Nagpur Shri Rambhau Geete, DCP Traffic Smt. Chetana Tidke and Transport officials from NMC and Maha Metro officers from various departments were present in the meeting. The meeting was chaired by MD Maha Metro Shri Shravan Hardikar.
RTO Shri Geete informed meeting that the proposal with fixation of charges has already been submitted to DCP Traffic. DCP traffic assured to clear the same. The same would then be forwarded to the district collector, who is also chairman of RTA (Regional Transport Authority) for final approval which will be accorded soon.
The main purpose of this move is to provide first and last mile connectivity to metro commuters. As per the proposal, auto rickshaw will charge rate as decided by the RTA. MD Maha Metro directed metro officials to identify parking slots in the city and undertake joint survey with officials of Traffic Department of City Police to ensure that idea is implemented in an effective and efficient manner.
