International skater Kasturi Tamhankar has been selected in the Maharashtra team which will participate in the 61st Roller Skating Federation of India’s nationals to be held at Chennai from December 11 to 25. This is for the 10th time in succession that Kasturi will be representing the State.
Kasturi had won four gold medals and championship trophy in the Senior Woman Inline Skating Championship which helped her secure a place in the State team. Till now, Kasturi has represented Maharashtra on 18 occasions in last 15 years.
In 2021, Kasturi, a Shiv Chhatrapati award winner, had represented India in World Skating Championship held at Columbia. She gives the credit of her success to her coach and international skater Nikhilesh Tabhane, NDRSA Secretary Upendra Varma, Nagpur University Sports Director Dr Sharad Suryawanshi and her parents.
