Preliminary intensity reported at 7.6
A powerful earthquake of 7.5 magnitude struck Mindanao in the Philippines on Saturday evening. The preliminary information was of 7.6 magnitudes on the Richter Scale.
Immediately after the earthquake, a Tsunami warning was issued for the island nation.
The earthquake struck at 10.37 pm off the coast of Mindanao island on the south Philippines at a depth of 32 Kms, a news agency has reported. Looking at the intensity of the earthquake and its location there are chances of Tsunami waves hitting the southern Philippines and parts of Indonesia, Palau, and Malaysia, said the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre.
