Fresh violence erupted in Manipur on Monday. At least 13 people died in the gunfire between the two ethnic groups.
Officials in the security forces found 13 dead bodies on reaching the spot in Leithu village in the Tengnoupal district of Manipur. The officer said that the deceased were not from Leithu village. Their identity, however, was not disclosed. Police are investigating further.
Manipur has been experiencing ethnic clashes between two groups meiti and Kuki since May 3. The clashes have left at least 182 dead and around 50,000 homeless.
The authorities lifted a ban on mobile internet services on Sunday, after which gunfights, violence, arson, and abduction were reported. The Manipur government entered into an agreement with the United National Liberation Force , the oldest militant group in Manipur.
