The Nagpur police have registered a case against five persons who cheated a grocer of more than one crore rupees on the pretense of getting three plots on lease. The incident took place under Sada police station limits.
Sanjay Sukhdev Gupta (54) needed land for business expansion. He hired some brokers. The accused has been identified as Gopal Bhagwan Gaikwad, Rahul Harichandra Balbudhe, Nilesh Suryabhan Chambhare, Rupesh Mahadev Thute and Govind Ramaji Waghmare. They lured Gupta to get some plots in the city on lease at a low rate.
The accused showed them two acres of land at Mauza Chikhli Devasthan, Kalmana, 6,600 sq. ft. land at Mauza Babulkheda Narendranagar and 19,200 sq. ft. land at Nelson Chowk, Mauza Jaripatka. In the name of getting those lands on lease for less money, the accused dragged Gupta into a trap. After that sometimes the amount was taken for various reasons like lease processing, tax, stamp paper, challan making etc. Also prepared orders with fake stamp and signature of Nazul department. The accused extorted Rs 1.06 crore from Gupta. But no land was acquired. Realizing that he was cheated, Gupta filed a complaint at the sadar police station.
