The MRO in Mihan Nagpur, which has moved forward to maintain jumbo jets and other aircraft will now also maintain helicopters. Airbus has signed an agreement to make MRO in Mihan the authorized service center for maintenance of its Airbus Helicopters H-145 in India.
Airbus helicopters have been flying in the country for the last 20 years. At present this number is around 100. Government of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Uttarakhand and some industrialists of the country also have this helicopter. It is also used as air ambulance for NDRF personnel. This light weight and twin engine helicopter can seat 10 people.
With this agreement foreign helicopters can also be brought here for repair and maintenance. At present, apart from Airbus, Agusta Bell and Sikasky also have helicopters in the country.
Development of small airports is now being emphasized in the country. Many high-rise buildings have helicopter landing facilities. The demand for air ambulances under emergency services is increasing. Due to this, the demand for helicopters is also increasing and their maintenance business is also gaining momentum.
