The winter session of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly in Nagpur is set to begin on a stormy note on Thursday with several simmering issues, ranging from the Maratha reservation to loan waiver for farmers, likely to be hotly debated. It will also serve as a litmus test for two coalitions – the ruling Mahayuti and the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) in the Opposition – looking to put their best foot forward ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha and Assembly polls.
On the eve of the session, a cabinet meeting was held at the Chief Minister’s Official residence Ramgiri. On this occasion, the opposition parties boycotted the tea party organized by the government.
The government has retaliated against the boycott of the opposition. Devendra Fadnavis quipped that since the opposition is not interested in the issues of the people, Next year, the government will organize a Paan-Supari event instead of a tea party for the opposition. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has criticized that the defeat in three states has spread depression among the opposition.
CM Eknath Shinde has said that the government is ready to discuss all issues including farmers’ issues, law and order, financial condition of the state and Maratha reservation.
The opposition party has prepared to surround the government in the winter session. It is expected that the opposition will take an aggressive stance on the issue of Law and order, Maratha reservation, loss of farmers due to unseasonal rains.
