1,400 buildings in Nagpur still haven’t obtained there Fire NOC
The Fire Department issued preliminary clearance certificates to around 5,600 buildings inside the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) borders. Until October 31. Around 1,400 of these structures had not received the fire department’s No Objection Certificate (NOC). The fire department has shut out the electricity and water supply to these structures. There are 90 hospitals and 37 hotels included in the mentioned no.
Fire inspections are required for government, semi-government, and private offices, hotels, hospitals, educational, commercial, public, industrial, and residential structures with a height of more than 15 meters within municipal limits. It is also required to obtain a NOC from the fire department while building the structure. The agency had given permission to 5,595 structures from which 772 are now under construction.
The water and electricity supplies to buildings that did not receive NOC from the Fire Department have been switched off. 780 building owners have been asked to vacate their properties.
The agency has directed the police to take action against 118 buildings, while a FIR has been filed against the owners of 142 others.
Penalties are also imposed if the NOC is not submitted to the fire department. If it is not met even after that, a crime is registered as a cognizable and indictable offence under the law.
It allows for imprisonment for periods ranging from six months to three years, as well as fines ranging from Rs 20,000 to Rs 50,000.
