The state government has given a big relief to the plot holders of Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT). The government has given relief to lakhs of families in the city by canceling the GR levying a development charge of Rs 168 per square feet for regularization. Apart from this, NIT has been empowered to collect development charges.
Maharashtra Gunthewari Act 2001/2020 N.S.P. / The issue of unauthorized layout development charges under NMRDA was pending with Govt. The Mahavikas Aghadi had alleged that the regularization fee of Rs 168 per square feet levied by the government was unfair. BJP MLA Krishna Khopde demanded cancellation of GR.
This issue was raised in the assembly. There was correspondence at the government level. Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis assured that action will be taken in this regard. Accordingly, on Monday, December 4, the state government has issued a new GR and given the authority to collect development charges under Gunthewari to the NIT.
