Improving relations with India difficult now
The Kashmir issue will be further complicated by the decision of the Indian Supreme Court on abrogation of Article 370. The decision is debatable in contravention of the law. The Kashmir issue which has been debated for several decades has been made more complicated and resolving it will be difficult, said former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan. Imran Khan is in jail in Pakistan.
Imran Khan assured that he and his party will help the people of Kashmir in getting political and moral rights. Kashmir is the basic cause of the dispute between India and Pakistan. Pakistan had opposed the decision of the Indian government in 2019 to withdraw the special status to Kashmir.
Khan said that Pakistan wanted to improve relations with India. But the decision taken on August 5, 2019, to abrogate Article 370 improving relations has become very difficult.
Chinese Foreign Affairs Ministry’s spokesperson Mao Ning said that the Kashmir dispute between India and Pakistan should be resolved peacefully based on the UNSC (United Nations Security Council) resolution. Discussion from both sides should be continued to maintain peace and stability in the region.
The Supreme Court on Monday decided to retain the decision of the government to abrogate Article 370 and called Jammu-Kashmir an integral part of India. The President has the right to withdraw special status to Kashmir granted under Indian Constitution. The Supreme Court also issued directions to conduct elections in Jammu-Kashmir before September 2024.
Following the decision taken by the Government of India on August 5, 2019, a total of 23 petitions were filed opposing the decision. The Supreme Court clubbed all the petitions and heard them together.
