The Supreme Court has extended the date of the hearing on the disqualification of Shiv Sena legislators by three weeks. The hearing will now be held on January 10.
A request to the Supreme Court was made for an extension of the deadline, as the procedure requires more time. The SC had directed to complete the procedure by December 31. The 34 petitions relating to the issue were divided into six categories. Writing reports about the six categories was difficult from December 21 to 31. The State Legislature, therefore had demanded an extension of the deadline, which was accepted.
Meanwhile, the hearing before the Speaker was held regularly. It will be continued from Monday. The documents of about two lakh pages have been placed on the record.
