In a vibrant and energetic event, the Professional Solidarity Forum (PSF) in collaboration with the Medical Service Society (MSS) Nagpur Chapters organised a Fun Run at Awasthi Chowk near Jafar Nagar, Nagpur. The event, themed around road safety, witnessed enthusiastic participation from diverse age groups.
The flag-off ceremony was conducted by esteemed dignitaries, including Mr. Ramesh Chopde, a social worker and activist; Dr. Tejinder Singh Rawal, renowned CA and avid runner in Nagpur; Mr. KS Rabbani, ex-Deputy Director of ASI Nagpur; Dr. Rizwan Ahmed, CTO of Dellaplex Technologies; Dr. Neena Sahu; Dr. Anil Jawahirani, and the 92-year-old ex-serviceman, Mr. RK Sharma.
Dr. Neena Shahu initiated the event with a warming-up session at Chopde Lawns parking area, followed by a brief talk by Dr. Irshad Pathan, a leading cardiologist from Max Health Clinic in Nagpur. The 5 km, 3 km, and 2 km runs were then officially flagged off by the dignitaries.
Over 250 participants, ranging from senior citizens in their sixties and seventies to young children aged 10 to 13, joined the run with remarkable enthusiasm. Finishers were awarded medals by the dignitaries, adding a sense of accomplishment to the event.
Sponsored by Crescent Hospital, Max Health Clinic, Samadhaan Co-operative Society, and MSS, the run received additional support from organisations such as Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) Nagpur, Jhulelal Runners Association (JRA), Janakrosh, and Traffic Rewards.
Volunteers from Janakrosh took the opportunity to advocate for adherence to traffic rules, highlighting the alarming rise in casualties due to road accidents in the city.
The Fun Run concluded with refreshments and a collective pledge to embrace a healthy lifestyle and uphold the responsibilities of being responsible citizens. The event marked a significant step towards promoting road safety awareness in Nagpur, bringing together the community for a common cause.
