The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation’s (DMRC) agreement with the local distributor, which exempts the former from electricity duty, was also mentioned by the company. Additionally, if the duty is waived, the company may be able to reduce the cost of the tickets. The reduction in fare may persuade more people to use the metro for their regular daily transportation.
The bill also suggested an exemption in the event that electricity is utilized for public utility maintenance and construction. No tax on the purchase or use of electricity may be placed on the operation of any railroad, according to Article 287 of the Indian Constitution.
