Three more bodies were recovered from the debris of Solar Group’s Economic Explosives Limited, where nine workers were blown to pieces in an explosion on Sunday. The number of deaths in the accident has risen to 12. An offense under sections 304(A) and 286 has been registered by the police. The company supplies explosives to about 30 countries. The CCTV footage is being examined by the police.
Additional Superintendent of Police Sandip Pakhale informed the media that teams of ATS (Anti-Terrorist Squad) and IB (Intelligence Bureau) have reached the spot and investigating the possibility of sabotage or terrorist attack.
The relatives of the workers were searching for their family members. The company is under the jurisdiction of the Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation. The officials from this organisation are also investigating the cause of the blast.
Nine workers in the company’s cast booster house died due to the blast on Sunday morning. A trainee worker was cleaning the TNT. The blast was so powerful that the bodies of the workers were blown away in pieces. More than 50 pieces of the nine workers’ bodies were recovered from the premises. The company is located around 38 Km from Nagpur on Amravati Road.
