KHAPA Police have arrested one of the three individuals involved in the shocking murder of an 80-year-old woman in Ramdongri, taluka Saoner, during the night between Sunday and Monday. The arrested suspect is Kisan Jondhru Chachere (50), native of village Chopa in taluka Goregaon, district Gondia. However, Kisan’s son, Munnalal (23), and another female accomplice remain at large.
The victim, Sulkabai Chachere (80), also a resident of village Chopa, was temporarily residing at Paunikar’s farm in Ramdongri, approximately seven kilometers from Khapa. The tragic incident unfolded around 8 p.m when Sulkabai engaged in a heated argument with some women at the farm over a petty issue. Enraged, Munnalal, Sulkabai’s grandson, lost control and brutally attacked her, smashing her head with a boulder, resulting in her immediate death.
In an attempt to cover up the crime, Munnalal, along with his father Kisan and a woman, wrapped the octogenarian’s body in a plastic bag and disposed of it in an isolated area near Ramdongri.
The police have filed a case under Sections 302 (murder), 201 (causing disappearance of evidence), and 34 (common intention) of the IPC. A rigorous search operation is underway to locate Munnalal and the unidentified woman involved in the gruesome crime.
