Justices Nitin Sambre and Abhay Mantri at the High Court in Nagpur have accepted the unconditional apology from State Chief Secretary Manoj Saunik. The apology was submitted during the hearing of a PIL filed by residents affected by recent floods in the Ambazari area. The residents, including Ramgopal Bachuka, had highlighted the insensitivity of the authorities, impacting 26,612 families. In his affidavit, the Chief Secretary assured the court that future orders in this PIL would be diligently and promptly followed. He informed that he had conducted the meeting of all concerned authorities on December 15 last and had instructed all of them to accelerate works and to undertake the same on priority basis and also in compliance with the directions of the HC.
He also informed the court that he would see to it that appropriate measures were taken by the concerned Departments including the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) on priority basis. He said he was also working on setting up a high level committee of 4-5 Secretaries of the concerned departments to work on executing the plans regarding averting the possibility of such natural calamity in future. The HC has also been informed that each of the affected 26,612 families have been paid Rs 10,000 per family by way of compensation.
He additionally conveyed to the court his that he would see to it that appropriate measures are promptly taken by the relevant departments, including the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) on priority. He said he was also working on setting up high-level committee comprising 4-5 Secretaries from the concerned departments to strategize and execute plans aimed at preventing such natural calamities in the future. The High Court has been updated that each of the 26,612 affected families have been paid Rs 10,000 per family by way of compensation.
