A complaint from a retired assistant accounts officer, SAKKARDARA Police have arrested six people for cheating, including five office bearers of a credit cooperative society.
The complainant, Sanjay Purushottam Tokekar, 62, who retired as an assistant accounts officer, lived in Gokul Apartment, which is located behind Natraj Tower in Mahal, Kotwali. He received a notice on July 5, 2023, requesting that he deposit Rs 8,45,048 as loan repayment. He had taken out the loan, according to the notice given by Poonam Urban Credit Co-operative Society Maryadit, Plot No. 107, Reshimbag. His cousin, who resides in Hyderabad, was listed as Guarantor No. 1 in the notice.
The complainant was unaware of the individual listed in the notice as Guarantor No. 2. According to the notice, on March 21, 2013, Tokekar had taken out a loan of Rs 2.50 lakh. Tokekar filed a complaint against the society’s office-bearers since he had never taken out a loan from the aforementioned organization.
A press release from City Police on Wednesday states that the society’s chairman, Dr. Priyadarshan Mandlekar, vice-chairman Sunil Kashikar, secretary Arun Phaltankar, passing officer Devanand Moharkar, manager Nisha Jagnade, and resident of Plot No. 6, Omkar Nagar, Manewada, Prasad Prabhakar Agnihotri (40), used a photograph, Aadhaar card, and PAN card, and forged the complainant’s signature to approve a “bogus loan” without the agent’s approval and despite knowing the complainant wasn’t a member of the society.
Sakkardara Police have filed a case against Agnihotri and the five society office-bearers under Sections 420, 468, 471, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code in response to Tokekar’s complaint.
