The Central Railway will spend Rs 1.62 crore for the installation of photo booths at railway stations, allowing individuals to capture selfies alongside images of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, according to media reports. A Right to Information response reveals that the government has sanctioned Rs 6.25 lakh for each permanent 3D selfie booth and Rs 1.25 lakh for each temporary booth.
The Central Railways put up selfie booths with pictures of Modi at 50 railway stations in five divisions: Mumbai, Bhusaval, Nagpur, Pune, and Solapur. At 30 important stations like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Kalyan, Nagpur, and Betul, they’ll have temporary booths. For 20 other stations like Karjat, Kasara, Latur, and Kopargaon, they’ll set up permanent booths.
The Right to Information query was filed by retired railway official Ajay Bose .He mentioned that the northern, southern, and western railways did not disclose the overall cost of the selfie points as per the query.
However, according to information from the media reports, when Ajay Bose asked the Northern Railway about it, they replied that they plan to put up selfie booths with Modi’s pictures at approximately 100 locations. Stations in Dehradun, Ambala, New Delhi, Amritsar, Ayodhya, and Chandigarh will each have three selfie booths.
