When Adarsh Bhure of Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University won the bronze in the men’s 100-meter race at the North-East-West Division Inter University Athletics Championship in Bhubaneswar, he made history. He became the first RTMNU athlete to accomplish this feat.
Adarsh won his first bronze medal in a major event with a final race time of 10.81 seconds. Adarsh got off to an amazing start as he ran through the seventh lane. But Adarsh was beaten at the finish line by Harsh Raut of Ahilyadevi Holkar University in Solapur, who trained with Nilesh Patkar in Thane. In the semi-final and the preliminary round, Adarsh recorded career-best times of 10.88 and 10.78 seconds, respectively.
Adarsh expressed his joy at the achievement. “Running in a final for the first time, it was probably a taxing experience,” he remarked. So I took a step back. We could have provided a time of 10.70 seconds if not.” He took part in the preliminary round of the 4-100m relay race prior to the 100-meter final race, and he will now compete in the 200-meter race tomorrow. Nagpur University came in fourth place. Adarsh’s performance has earned him a spot in the All India Inter University Athletics Championship, which begins on January 4 in Chennai.
