Soon after Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Maharishi Valmiki International Airport in Ayodhya on Saturday, the inaugural flight departed from Delhi. A video posted by news agency ANI captured IndiGo pilot Captain Ashutosh Shekhar welcoming passengers on board the flight to Ayodhya. Expressing his gratitude, Captain Shekhar mentioned, “I am fortunate that IndiGo gave me the opportunity to command a flight of this significance,” concluding with enthusiastic ‘Jai Shri Ram’ chants from the passengers.
Before boarding the inaugural flight to the Ayodhya airport, visuals captured passengers enthusiastically chanting “Jai Shri Ram.” Located 15 kilometers from the main Ayodhya city, the first phase of the airport has been developed at a cost of more than Rs 1,450 crore, as per a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office. On Saturday, PM Modi inaugurated the airport accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Minister of Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya Scindia. The airport’s terminal building, covering a total area of 6,500 sqm, is designed to accommodate approximately 10 lakh passengers annually.
