Nagpur District Collector Vipin Itankar has appealed to the people not to panic and buy petrol or diesel, as enough stock is available with the petrol depots.
Itankar convened a meeting with fuel companies, following long queues observed at petrol pumps. The news of the fuel tankers’ strike for three days spread like wildfire. Itankar also assured police protection at fuel stations, if needed.
Vehicle owners started filling their fuel tanks on Sunday evening. The strike by vehicle drivers arrested the smooth flow of vehicles on highways on Monday. The vehicle drivers are staging strikes protesting new provisions in hit-and-run cases under the new Bharatiya Nyaya Samhita.
