Sufficient stock of petrol, diesel and gas is available at all petrol pumps in Nagpur district. Apart from this, ample stock is available in depots supplying petrol pumps. If required, petrol will be provided under police protection. The Collector appealed to the citizens not to believe the rumor that the fuel has run out.
Rumors of fuel shortage have spread in the district since yesterday due to roadblock protests by truck drivers at some places. There are huge queues of customers at petrol pumps in the city. In this background, Collector Dr. Vipin Itankar held a meeting with the representatives of all the major companies supplying petrol and gas, Petrol Diesel and Gas Dealers Association of Nagpur district in the morning at the collector’s office. Resident Deputy Collector Subhash Chaudhary, District Supply Officer Ramesh Bende attended this meeting.
In this meeting, Petrol Diesel and Gas Dealers Association mentioned that we do not support the said strike. They have shown their readiness to supply with their own tankers. At this time, they expressed the hope of police protection to the district administration.
The District Collector discussed with the District Superintendent of Police Harsh Poddar from the meeting and assured police protection to the tanker owners. Apart from this, he also discussed the situation with Nagpur Police Commissioner.
He released a video for the media in which he clarified that there is no shortage of petrol, diesel and gas anywhere in the district. Abundant stock is available everywhere. Citizens have been urged not to get confused under any circumstances, not to believe in rumours, not to rush to the petrol pump to fill petrol.
Petrol supply will soon be restored to the places where petrol has run out due to excess demand. He has also appealed not to book gas cylinders if not required.
