Directs State Govt to file reply by Jan 6
The Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court issued notice to the state government to file a reply by January 6. The notice was issued on Wednesday in connection with the bail application moved by former minister Sunil Kedar.
Kedar was denied bail by the District Sessions Court. Kedar is in jail in connection with the Rs 153 crore Nagpur District Central Cooperative Bank (NDCCB). Kedar moved the High Court against the decision of the Sessions Court.
Kedar was sentenced to five years imprisonment by the Court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate in the NDCC Bank scam of Rs 153 crore.
He had initially approached the Sessions Court seeking bail as well as quashing the sentence. However, the scope of this scam is huge. Reports of Reserve Bank and NABARD have been filed in these cases. The Additional District and Sessions Court had rejected his bail application as well as the application for suspension of sentence, stating that farmers and investors have suffered huge losses due to this scam, and if he gets bail, it will send a wrong message to the society.
