MS Dhoni, the former Indian captain, has filed a lawsuit against his childhood friend and the friend’s company, accusing them of cheating him out of over 15 crores. According to media reports, Dhoni lodged a criminal case against Mihir Diwakar and Soumya Vishwash of Aarka Sports and Management Limited in a Ranchi court. Diwakar, Dhoni’s former manager and the founder-director of Aarka Sports, allegedly entered into a 2017 agreement with the cricketer to establish a global cricket academy. Dhoni claims they were obligated to pay a franchise fee and share profits as per the agreement’s terms, which they did not honor.
However, Diwakar allegedly failed to adhere to the agreement’s conditions, which mandated Aarka Sports to pay a franchise fee and share profits. Despite multiple attempts to address the non-compliance, Dhoni served a legal notice on August 15, 2021. However, even that did not yield any results. Dayanand Singh, Dhoni’s representative from Vidhi Associates, claimed that they were deceived and defrauded by Aarka Sports, which resulted in an excess of Rs 15 crore.
Additionally, Dhoni’s close friend Simant Lohani, commonly known as Chittu, has lodged a complaint, claiming he faced threats and abuse from Mihir Diwakar after they decided to opt for legal action against Aarka Sports. Meanwhile, Dhoni, who is expected to lead Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL 2024, celebrated the New Year in Dubai with family and friends, with Rishabh Pant also spotted with him.
