In an outrageous act, a group of thugs under the control of Central Railway’s Nagpur Division stole from passengers on the Pune-Hatia Express. Train No. 22845 was in the Nagpur Division between the stations of Borkhedi and Khapri in the early hours of Thursday when the incident happened.
The thugs, who were numbered five to six, attacked in one of the train’s frequently crowded general compartments. The precise amount of looted money and items, however, is unknown because Rajesh Kumar from Nagpur is the only traveller who has come forward to report the dacoity.
Other travelers whose cash and valuables were looted were traveling long distance and hence did not bother to lodge any complaint with the Government Railway Police (GRP) who were in dark till late afternoon about the sensational incident.
