Bomb threat emails targeted eight Mumbai museums on Friday, January 5, 2024, including Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Museum, Nehru Science Centre, and Byculla Zoo, as reported by the media. The emails claimed bombs were planted in these locations. Mumbai Police responded swiftly, enhancing security and conducting thorough checks with bomb disposal squads. Fortunately, no suspicious items were found.
The museum management filed a complaint, leading to a case against unidentified individuals at Colaba Police Station under IPC sections 505(1)(b), 506(2), and 182. Investigations are ongoing. Similar incidents were reported in Kolkata, Bengaluru schools, Raj Bhawan, and Ayodhya Ram Mandir ahead of the consecration ceremony on January 22. Kolkata Police received a bomb threat email from ‘Terrorizer’s 111,’ resulting in heightened security measures. Police arrested some people in connection with the hoax call.
