Vidarbha-level athletics competitions will be held from January 13 to 16 under the Khasdar Krida Mahotsav. The sports festival conceptualised by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari will be held in six different age groups on the synthetic track at the Regional Sports Complex, Mankapur, here. Those interested may register their names by January 8.
The events will be held between 10.30 am and 4.30 pm. Boys and girls below age of 12, 14, 16 and 18 and men and women in open category and master’s category for men and women above 35 years of age can participate in 116 sports events. The events include 4 Relay races separately for boys and girls, 4 X 100 meter and 4 X 400 meter two mixed relay races, 4 X 50 and 4 X 100 meter for children below 12 years. Walk for men and women of 5,000 meters and 3,000 meters have been introduced last year. A hurdles race for boys and girls below 18 years has been introduced.
A total cash prize of Rs 7,95,900 will be awarded individually and for teams. Best Runner, Best Thrower and Best Jumper awards will be given. A total of 110 technical judges and sports assistants have been appointed for the event.

Those registered will be given T-shirts and chest numbers on January 10 from 10 am to 4 pm at Khasdar Krida Maohitsav office at Glocal Square Building, Maharashtra Bank Square, Sitabuldi, Nagpur. Free unfurnished accommodation and free food for the participants will be made available.
