All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Nagpur used plastic bottles, tyres of vehicles and other waste material to develop a Selfie Point at its premises. Those attending their patients at AIIMS are crowding the place to have a photograph on the spot.
The idea was conceptualised by the Medical Superintendent Dr Manish Shrigiriwar. Disposal of used plastic bottles, tyres and other waste material was a problem for the hospital. The waste was being dumped in an open space and later taken away by the garbage collector.
Besides plastic bottles and tyres, empty containers of chemicals required at the hospital, used PPE Kits, broken wash basins, toilet seats etc were used to beautify a vacant space. Beautiful flowering plants were also planted to make it a nice garden. Dr Shrigiriwar was helped by Dr Neelam, Jyoti Latwal and Chachane. The garden and Selfie Point can be a model for others to follow.
