An elderly couple en route to a grocer shop on a scooter was struck by a speeding vehicle at Khadgaon T-point on Amravati road on Saturday. The victims, identified as Ganeshchandra Das (73) and his wife Minoti (60), sustained injuries in the accident and were promptly rushed to a private hospital. Minoti succumbed to her injuries during the course of treatment, while Ganeshchandra is currently recuperating at the hospital. The Wadi police have registered an offence against the driver.
