Various programmes have been organised at the Post-graduate Department of Mathematics of RTM Nagpur University from January 9 to 11. The programmes are being organised to mark Mathematics Day.
The event will be inaugurated at Shrinivas Ramanujan Hall of the Department by RTMNU VC Dr Subhash Chaudhari. Director of Innovation Dr Rajendra Sinh will be the chief guest. Dr Ganesh Kedar is the convenor of the programme.
Quiz, seminars, and discussion sessions will be held during the celebrations. Dr Vinayak Kulkarni from Mumbai University will deliver a lecture on ‘Mathematics Modelling: A multi-disciplinary approach’ at 12 noon. Dr Diwakar Shukla from DHSG University Saugar will speak on ‘Basics of Systems, modelling and simulation’ at 12.45 pm. ‘Basics of mathematical modelling to real-life problems’ will be the topic of a speech by Dr G P Rajshekhar from IIT, Kharagpur..
On January 10 quiz and seminars for college students will be held. Prizes for winners will be given on January 11. This will be followed by a lecture by Dr T M Karde on ‘The Great Indian Mathematicians’. Dr Y M Borse from Pune University will speak on ‘History of ancient Indian mathematics’ and Dr K C Deshmukh will speak on ‘importance of mathematics in daily life’.
