The Haryana based electric bus manufacturer PMI Electro Mobility Options is set to deliver ten electric buses to the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) this week, following months of persistent delays.
According to the agreement, the company was supposed to deliver forty-four buses by October of the previous year, but it only delivered ten. The agreed-upon 144 buses will be significantly short of the actual number of 20, even with the impending delivery of 10 more buses.
Concerns are raised regarding the wider ramifications for the City’s plans to switch to efficient and sustainable public transportation due to the ongoing delays in the delivery of electric buses. Deputy Municipal Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner Suresh Bagel verified that the NMC was informed by the company that ten electric buses left the Gurugram plant, which is close to Delhi, on Sunday and started their trip to Nagpur.
On Monday, it was still impossible to locate the buses; clarification is not anticipated until Tuesday. Bagel believes later this week that the buses will arrive in the city.
