Universities are asked to organize “School Connect” drives by the Maharashtra government in an effort to raise the Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER). The administration believes that this action will help with the National Education Policy (NEP)-2020’s implementation. It is anticipated that every non-agricultural university in the state will organize this campaign.
The government has observed a high percentage of students who are unable to continue their education beyond Class 12. The government has noted that students in Class 12 are most impacted by curriculum modifications, and a large number of students are leaving junior college early due to various challenges. As a result, there are now openings in the colleges that offer courses in higher education.
The government thinks these kids can be integrated into the mainstream through the ‘School Connect’ initiative. The universities may consider offering these students online courses.
The drive is scheduled to take place from January 15, 2024, to January 31, 2024. Universities are required to form a committee under the direction of the Pro Vice Chancellor. All of the deans, the Inter Quality Assurance Cell members, the principals of significant senior colleges connected to universities, the headmasters of junior colleges connected to schools, and representatives from the student body will make up the committee.
