Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) is gearing up to present a variety of street delicacies, including hot samosas, rice with rajma, patodi rassa, the widely enjoyed poha-tarri, and more. However, the twist lies in the organized approach, as these tempting treats will be offered through private vendors stationed in two well-designed and contemporary food hubs. These hubs are strategically planned near Yashwant Stadium in Dhantoli and close to Narendra Nagar Flyover in Jaiprakash Nagar. The initiative aims to promote traditional cuisine at affordable prices, generating direct employment.
The food hubs will adhere to cleanliness and hygiene standards, with paved surroundings, drinking water facilities, and litter-free zones. The NMC will provide garbage bins, drainage lines, and oversee the project, monitoring vendors and ensuring compliance with Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) guidelines. The government-sponsored initiative seeks to create “Eat Right Street Food Hubs” in 100 cities, including Nagpur, promoting local flavors.
Private architects will supervise infrastructure development, with the cultural and culinary diversity of traditional street food. The NMC is finalizing a detailed project report, awaiting state government approval. The initiative aims to attract a diverse audience, incorporating popular street foods like pani puri, bhel, dosa-idli, along with international options to cater to a wider demographic and enhance the overall experience.
