Nitin Gadkari, Union Road Transport and Highways minister directed MHADA officers to built a garment zone with all facilities for traders on MHADA site located on Subhash Road.
He also directed that space should be made available to the traders at a lower than the market price. Manufacturing facilities at this garment hub will also provide a large number of jobs to women, Gadkari added.
A multi storeyed building will be constructed on MHADA site in the area next to Geeta Mandir on Subhash Road where showrooms for traders and space for workshop will be provided on upper floors.
This will also benefit small traders Gadkari said and also gave instructions to the officials about the design of the complex.
Vice-president of MHADA Sanjeev Jaiswal, municipal commissioner Dr Abhijeet Chaudhary, managing director of Maharashtra State Textile Corporation (MSTC) Gadilkar, MHADA contractors and others were present.
