The NSE in a circular on Friday notified that Monday, January 22, 2024 will be a holiday since the Maharashtra state government declared it to be a public holiday to celebrate Shri Ram Lalla Pran Pratishtha Day.
“In partial modification to Exchange circular reference no. 59917 dated December 26,2023, the Exchange hereby notifies Monday, January 22, 2024 as a trading holiday on account of public holiday,” the NSE notification stated.
Earlier the BSE and NSE notified that they will conduct a special live trading session on Saturday in 2 parts using intra day switch over to the disaster recovery site. The trading session ia being held to test the disaster recovery site, they said.
The trading will be conducted in 2 sessions namely 9-10 am and 11:30 am-1 pm. The disaster recovery site session overlaps with the second session. Since this is a test session, shares purchased on Friday, January 19, 2024, cannot be sold on Saturday, January 20, 2024.
The Reserve Bank of India also revised its order issued earlier on Friday to state that January 22, 2024 will be a public holiday. No transactions or settlements in government securities will take place on Monday, said the circular. This applies to both primary and secondary g-secs, it added.
