Maharashtra Government and Sachivalaya Gymkhana have organised All India Civil Services music, dance, and short play competition in Nagpur from January 29 to February 2. The competition will be conducted from 10 am to 6 pm at Dr Vasantrao Deshpande Hall in Civil Lines.
A total of 19 teams from various States across the country will compete in the mega event. Vijayalakshmi Bidari, Divisional Commissioner, will be the chief guest at the inaugural function on January 29. Sujitkumar Mishra, Secretary, Central Civil Services Cultural and Sports Board, New Delhi, also will grace the occasion.
A ‘Warkari Dindi’ has been organised by Swapnil Arts to mark the inauguration of the competition. People from rural areas will participate in the ‘Warkari Dindi’. Besides, Maharashtra Government’s team will present ‘Maharashtra Darshan’ programme.
The concluding ceremony will be held at 6 pm on February 2 at Deshpande Hall. Dr Vipin Itankar, District Collector, will be the chief guest.
South Central Zone Cultural Centre, Nagpur, is extending help with judges and technical assistance. The music segment of the competition will have Hindusthani Classical singing, Hindusthani Semi-Classical singing, Carnatic Classical Vocal, Carnatic Semi-Classical Vocal, Western Vocal, Folk Songs (Solo), and Folk Songs (Group) categories. The dance segment will be further divided into Classical (Solo), Western (Solo), Folk Dance (Solo), and Folk Dance (Group).
Short play segment has only one category. Mangal Nakhwa, Honorary Joint Secretary, Sachivalaya Gymkhana, is Secretary for the competition. Maruti Kawaldar, Member, is Joint Secretary. Anant Shetye, Chairman, Sachivalaya Gymkhana, has guided the organising team.
