Dy CM Devendra Fadnavis unveiled a series of videos created by Nagpur City Police under the Police Didi Initiative, at Devgiri, Nagpur on Monday.Amitesh Kumar, Commissioner of Police, Nagpur ;Aswati Dorje, Joint Commissioner of Police, Nagpur ; all DCP’s of the city and the representatives of ‘Prakruthi’, the NGO that looked after the production of this video series joined the unveiling.
Under the Police Didi Initiative, Nagpur Police has been communicating with school-going girls, parents and teachers about identifying, preventing, and responding to potential threats of sexual offenses, harassment, and abuse. Following the agenda, these videos will aim to educate teenagers on aforementioned issues.
“The educational videos are not only informative but also tailored to resonate with their target audience.Nagpur Police believes in collaboration while addressing societal challenges. Wearedeterminedtocombat human trafficking and will keep working towards achieving our goal.”, said Aswati Dorje, Joint Commissioner of Police, Nagpur.
These videos will be distributed across various platforms, including social media, schools, and community centres. “By educating the people we aim for a safe environment for women, children and everyone. Staying vigilant and well informed is crucial for citizensto prevent crime.”, said Amitesh Kumar, Commissioner of Police, Nagpur.
With this new series of videos, City Police is encouraging open communication among adolescents and parents. Police personnel visiting the schools for Police Didi seminars had suggested this to reduce the hesitancy in reporting crime against young girls, said the Prakruthi Spokesperson.
With easy access to mobile phones and social media, minors are vulnerable to online threats, where social media platforms are used for entrapment. The new series of videos will inform about manipulation tactics used by perpetrators on social media platforms.
