Residing in Ordnance Factory, Ambajhari, are again in a tizzy after reports emerged about sighting of a leopard in the campus of Amravati Road. An advisory was issued by the OF administration asking people to take abundant precautions and avoid straying alone in the campus area.
The note issued by Vikas Kumar Pandey, Deputy General Manager, VKP, that since last three to four days, the CCTV cameras have captured movement of full grown leopard. The administration promptly alerted the Forest Department and camera traps have been affixed at strate- gic places.
In the recent past, the leopard has even hunted a stray dog as a carcass was found in OF campus. Similarly, the residents have been advised not to indulged in any vio- lent act to counter the leopardas it may cause harm to them.
About one-and-half-year back, there was similar sight- ing of leopard in the OF area and that time the residents lived constantly under fear for a nearly a month. Thereafter, the straying of a tiger upto IT Park at Parsodi, right into the city, further aggravated the fear. The area of OF borders the Ambazari Biodiversity Park where to in past tiger has been sighted.
