Honorarium hiked by Rs 10,000
The resident doctors of Maharashtra have withdrawn their strike, following a discussion with Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in Mumbai. The honorarium of the Resident Doctors has been increased by Rs 10,000 and will be released every month on a fixed date. The assurance given by Pawar satisfied the leaders of the Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors (MARD). The proposed strike from Wednesday was withdrawn by MARD.
Medical Education Minister Hasan Mushrif, Principal Secretary of Planning Saurabh Vijay, Principal Secretary of Medical Education Dinesh Waghmare, and DMER Dr Dilip Mhaisekar were present.
Ajit Pawar also assured that repair works of old hostels and new hostel buildings will be undertaken soon. The issue has been incorporated in the proposal for opening new medical colleges. The funds for the project have been released. The Public Works Department will be instructed to expedite the work. During repair works or construction of new buildings, the students will be accommodated at other places or they will be paid rent for the hired accommodation.
