In the last 36 days, a total of 25879 defaulters in the city have deposited Rs 18.6379 crore in Nagpur under the recently introduced Abhay Yojana.
Approximately 80% of the fine amount imposed on defaulters was forgiven, totaling around 4.6399 crore.
The Abhay Yojana will continue throughout February and March. This scheme has also been implemented for water and market taxes. NMC commissioner Dr Abhijeet Chaudhary urged defaulters to take advantage of the offer.
The market department is also waiving 80 percent of the fine for shop, ote, and land use fees. Deputy commissioner (revenue) Milind Meshram stated that between January 1 and February 5, defaulters’ fines of Rs 4.64 crore were waived. The plan will continue until March 31, 2024.
Nehru Nagar zone benefited the most from the Abhay Yojana. The scheme benefited 4116 people here. Their dues of ₹2.236 crore were forgiven.
In the Laxmi Nagar zone, 3790 tax holders deposited the dues of ₹2.9239 crore in Nagpur Mu- nicipal Corporation’s coffers. In the Aasi Nagar zone, 3695 tax payers deposited Rs 2.7959 crore. In Dhantoli zone, 759 defaulters paid Rs 68.77 lakh.
