The Maharashtra Government has approved Rs 24.96 crore for the rejuvenation and beautification of Sonegaon Lake, located in South-West Nagpur, represented by Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis. Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) is commencing phase-II, involving the construction of a retaining wall and a 1.75km pathway.
This follows an earlier allocation of Rs 18.20 crore on July 9, 2017, for the initial phase. Under phase-I, the lake now boasts two entrance gates, parking areas, sitting arenas, toilets, repaired walls, stairs, and a Nakshatra Garden featuring 27 plant species. Additionally, NMC is enhancing the lake’s appeal with amenities such as an amphitheatre, yoga court, food court, and a designated selfie point.
