Foreign tourists will have to pay more for jungle safari. Divisional Commissioner Vijayalakshmi Bidari suggested that a proposal should be made to increase the entry fee of foreign tourists as well as the commercial tourism fee. She gave instructions to encourage electric vehicles for jungle safaris under Navegaon-Nagzira Tiger Project and to create various facilities for water tourism like houseboats, solar boats.
A total number of 135 vehicles have been sanctioned for Safari in Navegaon-Nagzira project. But currently only 45 Gypsies are working. Bidri gave instructions to immediately make available the remaining vehicles in the tourism service and to include electrical vehicles on priority. She also said to start two buses for jungle safari for school students at low cost.
Bidri also Instructed to increase tourism by getting the right information about the forest to the tourists, guide should be given special training regarding the complete information about the wildlife, birds and trees of the tiger reserve and their quality should be increased and English language training should be organized for the foreign tourists.
It will be mandatory to use 50 percent green energy in hotels and resorts under the tiger reserve area. Bidri also gave instructions to take strict action against the concerned in case of noise pollution and intense lighting of electric lamps.
Bidri said to completely stop the use of plastic, provide drinking water in glass or steel bottles to the tourists. While creating the necessary facilities for the tourists, employment opportunities should be provided to the locals in the field of guides, drivers and hospitality. On this occasion, she also gave instructions to implement various activities to promote the growth of tourism, to prepare a plan for tourism development and publicity.
