The state Common Entrance Examination Cell (CET Cell) has hiked the Common Entrance Test (CET) fee by Rs 200. Common Entrance Examination will be conducted to various professional courses. The deadline for the registration of these entrance exams has been extended for the second time. Accordingly, the application can now be made till February 12.
Entrance exams are going to be conducted for various courses like engineering, pharma, architecture, law, design, hotel management. The schedule of these exams has also been announced. However, this year CET Cell has increased the exam fee, causing difficulties for the students. A fee of Rs 1000 is being charged for one exam in the ongoing direct recruitment in the state. Due to this there is already displeasure among the examinees. It was also alleged that the government was increasing tariffs for the benefit of private companies.
Last year CET CELL charged Rs 800 for open category and students from outside Maharashtra and Rs 600 for all reserved categories. This year it has been increased to Rs 1000 for open category and Rs 800 for all reserved categories. Earlier, PCM and PCB were charging Rs 1000 when applying together. Now applying for these two groups has to pay Rs.1600.
