The Constable (GD) examination for recruitment of constables in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) will be conducted in 13 regional languages for the first time. Apart from Hindi and English, the exam will be held in Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi, Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Odia, Urdu, Punjabi, Manipuri and Konkani, the Ministry of Home Affairs has announced.
The examination will be conducted from February 20 to March 7, 2024, for around 48 lakh candidates in 128 cities across the country. The decision has been taken to increase the participation of local youth in the CAPF GD constable exam as well as to promote regional languages, the MHA said.
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the Constable GD examination every year. This year, the commission has signed an MoU with the Ministry of Home Affairs to facilitate the conduct of the examination in the above-mentioned 13 regional languages in addition to Hindi and English.
The SSC had earlier announced the complete calendar for the examinations it will conduct in 2024. The notification for SSC CAPF, NIA, SSF GD Constable, and Assam Rifles Rifleman recruitment will be released on November 24. Interested and eligible candidates can check the schedule on the official website at ssc.nic.in. According to the notice issued by SSC, SSC CAPF, SSF GD Constable, Assam Rifles Rifleman GD, and NCB Constable examinations will be conducted in February and March. These examinations will be held from February 20 to 29 and March 1, 5, 6, 7, 11, 12.
